Caleb Joseph was named a 2008 ABCA/Rawlings South Region First Team selection.

The former Lipscomb catcher was one of two Atlantic Sun Conference players named, but was the only first team pick. Stetson outfielder Justin Bass was named to the Second Team.

Eight Southeastern Conference teams were represented along with three each from the Big East and Conference USA. The Ohio Valley Conference had two players named.

Joseph, a seventh-round pick earlier this month by the Baltimore Orioles in the Major League First-Year Player Draft, has been assigned to the Aberdeen Ironbirds, a Class A franchise.

He made his debut in the season-opener Tuesday night slamming a double in five at-bats as the Ironbirds beat Hudson Valley 13-7 in a New York-Penn League game.
